Do a team building day. Having a happy working team will mean increased productivity. You will have to spend out on this, and you will not immediately see any direct profit from it, but if you have a way of tracking productivity, you will find an improvement. Sending your team on something like a corporate treasure hunt will help them to bond. When they return, they will have a closer bond as a unit, work better together as a whole leaving you with greater results from the same working day and thus saving you money in the decreased time in which they complete tasks.

Install free vending machines in your office. Why? Again, you may think this is just increasing your spend. No. The time it takes for someone to go to the kitchen, put the kettle on, may the teas, bring them round to everyone… in that time that employee could have been producing. The English etiquette means that not only will that person bring teas for everyone, the person doing it will rotate. So yes, the office junior spending 10mins on tea doesn’t cost you much. When the manager does it because his hourly wage is so much more, it is costing you a lot! A vending machine allows people to still bring tea to each other so the English bonding thing takes place, but it takes them only a fraction of the time.

Good insurance. Insurance again is an expense, and a clearly large one with no visible returns. However in the event that something does occur you will find yourself glad of the loss you haven’t just made. For example, say you deal with horses. A Horse costs upwards of £20,000 to buy, and up keep is substantial. If something were to happen, and you didn’t have horse liability to cover things, you could end up not being able to afford the potentially huge vet costs, resulting in you loosing the horse and thus loosing £20,000. Always insure your main tools.
